SHOP RAONE (Rosso 2018)

RAONE (Rosso 2018)

from £18.00
sold out

Country: Italy (Obvs)

Region: Abruzzo

Grape: 60% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

Alcohol: 14.0%

Viticulture: Biodynamic Farming / Organic

Vineyard: Torre Raone

Jonesy’s review: I’m not a big red drinker but love the Rosso, it’s smooth and great with a steak! It’s the wine I shared with the owners on my first visit to the vineyard.

Wine making: The fermentation takes place in contact with the skins in steel containers for 10-12 days thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. During the winter malolactic fermentation takes place thanks to the lactic bacteria naturally present in the wine. Starting from here the wine rests for about a year at 16-18° C in steel tanks and then is put in wooden barrels of 10 hl for another 12 months before being bottled.

Tasting Notes: On visual examination it shows shades of an intense, consistent ruby red. To the nose it shows hints of black cherry jam, plum, black currant and black elderberry with fragrant spicy notes of aromatic herbs. Soft and savoury, it has a great balance between the alcoholic strength and the acidity of tannins. The complex and spicy flavours are reminiscent of black cherry, blueberry, blue raspberry, cinnamon, liquorice and black pepper.

An unconventional blend of Montepulciano, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that leaves you speechless! Ample, excellent and of very high harmony, it improves in bottle from year to year showing infinite potential .
